XXX. More about Fiat Giallo Tufo

Since, these days, I cannot devote time to go to Poland to progress on the Żuk, at least I have time to give some thought about painting it.

First first sure for now, unlike on my initial thoughts, the color split won’t be in the middle of a surface but at an edge. The expert painter said doing otherwise would be looking for trouble and he is probably right. You can deal with some door not exactly aligned with the rest of the vehicule except if you have a line of color change misaligned on a plane surface. That would looks way too odd, even with my low standards. So it’ll definitely be like on option B, the second picture there:

Watching some other videos bring some ideas too. For instance this Nysa:

Reminds me my first thought when I was considering buying the unreliable Zbigniew from Polańczyk blue Żuk. I was then considering a minimal top and bottom paint like:

Inverting colors can be nice too -though I want to keep the roof white because I think that makes sense since I am not trying to build an oven; wheels will be kept white too, because the white is RAL easy to get color, so it’s best for a part that might require spares- so it leads me to these:

I must say I’m still undecided! I like the last option too. But in favor of the top white bottom yellow (option B), I’m being told that it was the very usual color set of school/public institutions in Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa-era.

Option B vs D:

For the record, I also thought of the old-school models stripes option. But that would not suit this generation of body at all, especially not the front:

Aside from that, if you have a Żuk, or any Warszawa-based van, up and running, you might be interested in IV edition of Rajd Żuka.
